Crimestoppers signs for ABM's confidential information recording system - National crime-fighting charity signs Information in Confidence contract
Nottingham, 10 August 2010 - Independent crime-fighting charity, Crimestoppers, has partnered with ABM in a five-year agreement for Information in Confidence (IIC), part of the abmpegasus suite of cutting-edge covert management tools. abmpegasus IIC will help the charity with the confidential recording of anonymous national and international information tip offs from members of the public, and tip offs from employees of partner organisations. abmpegasus IIC will enable Crimestoppers to keep track of the provenance of anonymous information while meeting regulatory compliance and discharging duty of care before being passed over to law enforcement agencies & partner organisations.
Crimestoppers has played a vital role in helping law enforcement agencies with the fight against crime and making the UK's streets and communities safer for over two decades. The charity's unique service operates a 24/7 telephone number (0800 555 111) and website www.crimestoppers-uk.org which members of the public can use to pass on information about crimes, confident in the knowledge that the entire process remains anonymous.
Dave Cording, Crimestoppers' director of operations, said: "Anonymity is the critical cog in the entire Crimestoppers initiative, and without it, many criminals would never have been caught. Since the charity launched 22 years ago, over 100,000 people have been arrested and charged because of the information we have received. With the number of people contacting us continuing to increase, we wanted a system that processed information quickly without compromising quality. ABM' s recording system is also compatible with our stakeholders such as police forces which means the transfer of information is more efficient."
Alastair Luff, managing director of ABM adds: "In addition to the information the public give Crimestoppers in their fight against crime, the adaptable nature of abmpegasus IIC allows for access control and terminology to be configured according to Crimestoppers' specific requirements. Pop-up help boxes make the data fields very user-friendly helping to reduce the need for specific software training.
"With implementation having commenced in June, Crimestoppers use of abmpegasus IIC is expected to go live during September 2010. We are delighted to be working with such a well-known charity that plays such an important role in Britain."
"Explicitly designed to simplify covert policing processes by reducing bureaucracy and administration, the abmpegasus suite offers maximum flexibility and sophisticated functionality through a user friendly interface. The complete solution encompasses Source Management, Information in Confidence, Protected Persons, Communications, Surveillance and Debrief to provide an integrated approach to managing covert operations.
