- ABM's Intellicase to help Environment Agency manage and prosecute green offences
- Nottingham, 13 April 2010 - The Environment Agency, the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales, is the latest organisation to sign a contract for Intellicase, ABM's case and investigation management solution. Through the five-year deal, Intellicase will help the agency protect and improve the environment in England and Wales, replacing a number of separate IT systems with a single national repository.
- The system will be used to manage investigations and enforcement against environmental criminals - ranging from illegal fishing to the regulation of waste, water, air pollution, flood defense and the nuclear industry. It will join up the work of Environment Agency front line officers and in-house lawyers.
- Alastair Luff, Managing Director at ABM explains: "Intellicase provides a central system that will help drive modern intelligence led enforcement and closer working with their regulatory partners, supporting business processes across the enforcement lifecycle. It will also provide cost and performance information to assist with efficiency saving measures and objectives, as well as manage limited resources to aid effective targeting against the most serious offenders. Intellicase records and manages suspected offences right from initial reporting, to prioritising, through creation of a case file to managing the outcome of the investigation."
- The agency currently uses a number of separately developed and managed IT systems, but they only partially support enterprise-wide enforcement case management. Part of the requirements for the new solution was that it provide a single, national repository to track and manage incidents and investigations right through to prosecution. The solution also supports business processes through customisable workflows, reduced re-keying and information duplication, as well as saving time, achieved by accessing the right information at the first attempt.
- With the agency having listed around eleven requirements for the new system, ABM demonstrated with ease the way in which Intellicase brought together the entire investigation and enforcement process, providing a flexible and future proof basis for all of the agency's enforcement operations. The system's high end security, intelligence and reporting features also struck a chord.
- Commenting on the Intellicase business win, Luff continues: "Intellicase brings together the recording, investigation and resolution reporting of all incidents in breach of environmental legislation. The agency will also benefit from the solution's management information reporting, which will provide a cost and performance management capability to calculate expenditure on external activity, and track time spent on each investigation, as well as monitoring performance.
- "Helping to fulfil the agency's promise to the public by ensuring access to up-to-date information, Intellicase will further support and justify the agency's Government infrastructure and advisory (GIA) bids, helping to demonstrate public accountability and transparency through a full audit function."
