- ABM implements standard communication data sharing format - Facilitating better communcations data access to support case investigation processes
- Nottingham, 05 July 2010Intelligence, investigation and criminal justice software solutions specialist, ABM, has recently developed, integrated and successfully tested the first phase of the RDHI Home Office Project within abmpeagsus™ Communications. RDHI, or Retained Data Handover Interface, standardises the format for the delivery of communications data records (CDR) from communication service providers (CSPs). ABM's RDHI interface will help police forces make speedier and more uniform CDR requests, reducing system operator effort and saving time, development costs and compliance system operating expenses. abmpegasus automates the request within the current workflow and the resultant data populates directly into the relevant communications application.
- ABM's software development manager, Matt Chamberlain, explains: "Currently, when a police force makes a request to a CSP like Vodafone, BT and Orange, the data is supplied in various formats and returned by varied mediums including phone, fax and email. The data would then require formatting in order to import it into existing databases and analytical systems. RDHI compliance will help ensure that all CSPs present resultant data in a generic format.
- With the Home Office having stated that all future CDR work at UK operators is required to be RDHI compliant, the scheme has gained backing from a wide variety of government departments, agencies and programmes.
- "With ABM's new RDHI interface, police forces can use the self-service request process for CDR queries through *abmpegasus Communications. The requested data is automatically imported over a secure, encrypted interface into the Communications module using the RDHI interface. Significant changes to the user interface or working practices that abmpegasus users are familiar with, can therefore be avoided. This allows police forces better access to CDR without major upheaval and provides an easier, speedier, more accurate and compliant, single standard of working."
- * Part of a complete covert policing and intelligence suite, abmpegasus Communications guides users through a simple, self-service process for requesting CDR through a secure web portal. For more information on abmpegaus, please go to www.abmsoftware.com/abmpegasus
