Managing Jail Information: The U.S. Depertment of Justice's Jail Information Model

Introduction

As highlighted in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Jail Information Model, there is a wealth of information relating to gangs, drugs and terrorist activity circulating among jail inmates. However, the report found that “the majority of jails had no formal system to consistently gather, validate, and refer vital information throughout the local public safety system”.

This article considers the four main stages of the Jail Information Model and how ABM’s software, abmpegasus, can be used to assist the information management process.
